Calcium-zinc stabilizer is synthesized from calcium salt, zinc salt, lubricant and antioxidant as main components by special compounding process. It can not only replace the lead and cadmium salts and organic tin and other toxic stabilizers, and has a fairly good thermal stability, light stability and transparency and coloring power. Practice has proved that in PVC resin products, good processing performance, thermal stabilization is equivalent to lead salt stabilizers, is a good non-toxic stabilizer.
The appearance of calcium and zinc stabilizer is mainly in the form of white powder, flakes and paste. Powdered calcium-zinc stabilizer is used as the most widely used non-toxic PVC stabilizer, commonly used in food packaging, medical devices, wire and cable materials, etc. At present, domestic calcium-zinc stabilizers for rigid pipes are available.
Powdered calcium-zinc stabilizers are not as thermally stable as lead salts, and have certain lubricity, poor transparency, and easy to spray frost. In order to improve its stability and transparency, often add hindered phenols, polyols, phosphite and β-diketones and other antioxidants to improve.
The two major systems of calcium and zinc stabilizers are mainly divided into water talc system and zeolite system.
Fischer-Tropsch wax plays a lubricating role in the processing of PVC, and the addition ratio is about 0.2-1%, which varies according to the PVC products. In the application of calcium and zinc stabilizers, Fischer-Tropsch wax can help stabilizers to extend the heat stabilization time, reduce the melt viscosity, reduce the friction between molecules, molecules and mechanical walls, improve the initial coloring of products, and have a positive impact on the mechanical properties of products, which can be widely used in this field.
In the next few years, as the domestic demand for calcium and zinc stabilizers grows year by year, and Fischer-Tropsch wax continues to replace paraffin wax in the field of candles and filling masterbatches, it is expected that the domestic use of Fischer-Tropsch wax will reach 500,000 – 550,000 tons by 2025.
