Already in 1975, Mitsuba discovered that a mixture of PTFE and polyethylene wax could provide a combination of smoothness and scuff resistance. The Fluoro SLIP product line was developed based on this principle.

Polypropylene resin is inactive and hardly adheres to metal or other substrates. If it is used as a protective coating, the adhesion problem of the coating film must be solved. If peroxide or a resin with strong polarity and good adhesion is added for special modification, the adhesion of the coating film can be significantly improved. As the temperature increases, the adhesion of the polypropylene film decreases accordingly.

The crystalline melting point of polypropylene resin is 167°C, and it is hot-melt and adheres between 190°C and 232°C, and it can be painted by any coating method. In order to obtain the most suitable adhesion, impact strength, flexibility and gloss, it should be cooled quickly after thermal melting and adhesion. The cooling rate has a great influence on the performance of the coating film. Because polypropylene resin pe wax korea is a crystalline polymer, the size of the crystal ball depends on the rate of cooling from the molten state. The faster the cooling rate, the smaller the crystal ball and the smaller the surface defects, and a fine and flexible coating film surface can be obtained. The storage stability of polypropylene powder coatings is good, and there is no tendency to agglomerate when stored under slightly higher temperature conditions. Polypropylene resin can obtain a water-white transparent coating film. The physical and mechanical properties and chemical resistance of the coating film are shown in Table 3-30. Polypropylene powder coatings have better chemical resistance, but they cannot resist strong oxidizing acids such as nitric acid.

Although polypropylene powder coatings are not suitable for decoration, after adding some pigments and additives to improve stability, gloss retention and other properties are improved at the same time. Generally, after 6 months of outdoor exposure, the gloss retention rate of the coating film is only 27%. However, after adding light stabilizers such as ultraviolet absorbers, the gloss retention rate of the coating film can reach 70%. Polypropylene powder coatings are mainly used for the coating of household appliances parts and the lining of anticorrosive pipes and tanks in chemical plants. Recently it has been used more in the production of road barriers. The models and specifications of polypropylene resins produced by different domestic manufacturers have not been reported on the large number of applications of polypropylene powder coatings in my country.
