Widely used in dry emulsion paint, diatomaceous earth, putty powder and other dry powder coatings, also used in plastics (such as ABS/PE/EVA/PP/PVC/PU) to add anti-mold.
The formation of complexes between oxime anti-skinning agents and driers is more complicated. In some binders, the cobalt drier can show a darker color, but the original color will be restored after the film is dried. The order of addition of the anti-skinning agent is related to the color reaction, and the color will be added before the drier. It is deep, so the anti-skinning agent is added after adding the drier.
These three oxime anti-skinning agents have similar effects. Cyclohexanone oxime needs to be dissolved in an appropriate solvent before use, and it is easy to crystallize out when the room temperature is low. Butyraldehyde oxime is suitable for oil paints and phenolic paints, and methyl ethyl ketoxime is suitable for alkyd paints and epoxy ester paints.
The oxime anti-skinning agents of various brands are mostly methyl ethyl ketoxime and butyrald oxime with higher purity.
The commonly used oxime anti-skinning agent is methyl ethyl ketoxime. The LP842 anti-skinning agent jointly developed by Siping City Chemical Design Institute and Jinxi Chemical General Factory is a high-purity methyl ethyl ketoxime. There are 3 specifications and it can be dissolved in organic solvents such as ether, ethanol, xylene, and pine perfume. It is slightly soluble in water and has reductive properties. It is widely used as an anti-skinning agent in alkyd resin coatings and epoxy ester coatings. It has the following advantages:
①It is a colorless and clear liquid, which does not affect the color of the paint;
②Easy to use, good anti-skinning effect, less dosage, and no effect on the viscosity of the coating;
③It is odorless, and volatilizes together with the solvent during film formation without significantly delaying its dryness, and has no effect on the storage properties of the coating.
The amount of paint is 0.1%~0.5% of the total amount of paint to prevent skinning. Because the composition of the paint is different, the degree of skinning is also different, so the actual amount should be determined by the test surface.
