How To Improve The Water-proof, Anti-adhesive & Wear-resistant Properties Of Stoneware Paint

Woodenware paint is often used as a protective paint for furniture to greatly improve the wear resistance, scratch resistance, and corrosion resistance of the furniture, thus extending the service life of the wooden furniture.

Water-based wood lacquer is also an environmentally friendly product that has developed rapidly in recent years. Water-based wood lacquer produced by adding water-based additives has many advantages:
1. The film has high transparency, soft paint film and high solid content;
2. The water-soluble system does not contain APEO, VOC and other harmful substances;
3. High cost performance and harmless to the safety of construction personnel;
4. The construction is convenient and the bubble phenomenon is reduced;
5. Good hand feeling, especially smooth, water-resistant and wear-resistant.

However, the use of stoneware paint also requires skills. Common problems include:
Poor paint film adhesion:
After the application of general water-based paint, it will be found that the bonding between the coating layers is not strong, resulting in poor adhesion. The temperature in summer is high and the air humidity in some areas is high. Construction workers are required to fully polish each layer to improve adhesion. At the same time, construction should be arranged in the morning and evening to ensure that the inherent quality of the product is reflected.

The paint layer is whitish:
The main reason is that the humidity of the construction environment is too high, and the coating film is too thick during the construction process. In summer, the temperature is high and the air humidity is high in some areas. During the construction process, the practical time may have been ignored, and another coat of paint was applied immediately after the paint layer was dry. In rainy or humid weather, the paint layer is prone to whitening.

Paint film cracking:
This phenomenon is also common in summer construction. Because the paint film was too thick during the construction process, the surface layer dried quickly and formed a film, while the thick inner layer dried slowly, which directly caused the primer to crack. At the same time, you should also pay attention to the quality of the boards, and it is recommended to choose boards with good stability.

Paint film wrinkles:
In the flat coating, one-time thick coating is adopted, and the fullness of the result is excellent, but at high temperature, the surface layer of the paint film dries quickly to form a film, but the thick inner layer dries slowly, and the paint is not smooth. Flow creates a tension difference, resulting in an uneven surface of the final film, that is, wrinkling.

Application of water-based wax in wood ware paint:
How to improve the above-mentioned problems of stoneware paint has been deeply studied at home and abroad. Studies have shown that the addition of wax emulsion can greatly improve the surface properties of wooden paint. It can not only enhance the abrasion resistance, scratch/abrasion resistance, high temperature adhesion resistance and other properties of the furniture paint, but also improve the feel and gloss of the furniture.

Emulsification method to produce high melting point polyolefin wax dispersions:
Polyethylene wax(PE Wax), polypropylene wax(PP Wax), and Fischer-Tropsch wax(FT Wax) can be made into water dispersions with a particle size of 4-10 μm to improve scratch resistance and abrasion resistance in water-based coatings. The emulsification method produces wax-water dispersion, which overcomes the problem of dispersion in coatings. The wax (oil) melted at high temperature forms dispersed particles of reasonable particle size under the high shear of the emulsifier and equipment. After cooling, it is converted into Suspoemulsion of solid particles. Its spatial structure is similar to emulsion micelles. The lipophilic group of the emulsifier dissolves in the wax particles, and the hydrophilic group forms a good combination with the water phase, thus greatly improving the dispersion stability of the dispersion.
