Curing accelerator and anti-yellowing agent
Curing accelerators are additives added to accelerate the curing reaction speed between the resin and the curing agent in the powder coating, or to reduce the curing reaction temperature. The amount of these curing accelerators is much less than the curing agent, and some of them participate in the chemical reaction. Some do not add chemical reactions, which can only reduce the activation energy of the chemical reaction, or accelerate the curing reaction speed, and act as a catalyst. Commonly used in epoxy powder coatings micronized polyamide wax are 2-methylimidazole, 2-phenylimidazoline, Cycloamidines, pyridines, guanidines, tri-compounds, urinary derivatives, etc.
Commonly used in epoxy-polyester powder coatings are 2-methyl azole, 2-phenylimidazoline, butyltriethylammonium chloride , Benzyl triethylammonium bromide, etc., commonly used in polyester powder coating towels are Australian quaternary ammonium salt, triphenyl nitrile, N-methyl sulfo-p-benzenesulfonamide (ACR IRON 32-18A texturing agent), etc. Dibutyl tin laurate and the like are used in polyurethane powder coatings. The CY168 catalyst produced by Sino-French Chemical Co., Ltd. can be used in polyester powder coatings: the catalyst DT 31262 provided by HUNS MAN can be used to adjust the activity of epoxy polyester and polyester powder coatings. In addition, the SA210, SA220, SA230 and SA242 accelerators of Lu’an Jietongda Chemical Co., Ltd. can also be used in polyester and epoxy-polyester powder coatings.
Anti-yellowing agent is an additive added to prevent yellowing of the coating film when the powder coating is cured (or under sunlight). This additive is generally added to white to light-colored powder coatings. One of the disadvantages is the high baking temperature. The baking temperature of most varieties is around 180°C. In order to improve production efficiency, the baking curing temperature is often increased and the curing time of the drying station is short. In this case, high temperature has more obvious oxidation effect on organic polymer compounds, so it is more prone to yellowing or discoloration of the powder coating film. In addition, some types of powder coatings can also cause the problem of yellowing of the coating film under direct or indirect sunlight.
The purpose of adding anti-yellowing agents or antioxidants in powder coating formulations is to reduce and overcome the problem of yellowing of powder coating films due to high temperature, air and sunlight. These anti-yellowing agents or antioxidants are applied by extracting The free radicals generated when the film is heated with oxygen prevent the thermal degradation reaction of the coating film. Thereby improving the anti-yellowing and anti-aging properties of the coating film. The anti-yellowing agents used in powder coatings include AS110 anti-yellowing agent for indoor products and AS130 high temperature anti-yellowing agent from Guangzhou Tiancheng Trading Co., Ltd. AS110 can withstand a temperature of 200°C, protect organic and polymer compounds from oxidative degradation, and play an anti-yellowing effect. The dosage is 0.5% to 1% of the total formula.
