How to use levelling agent for coating?

2021-09-08   Pageview:830

After the construction, there is a flow and drying process, and then gradually form a flat, smooth and uniform coating film, whether the coating can achieve the flat and smooth characteristics, called leveling. The additives used to help the coating to achieve better leveling are called leveling agents.

As a leveling agent, to help the leveling of the coating, it must have the following characteristics.
1, Lower the surface tension between the coating and the substrate, so that the coating and the substrate have good wettability and do not cause the formation of surface tension gradient between the substances of shrinkage.
2, Adjust the evaporation speed of solvent, reduce the viscosity, improve the fluidity of the coating, and prolong the leveling time.
3, Form a very thin single molecule layer on the surface of the coating film to provide a uniform surface tension.

Standard silicone additive to improve surface performance in all solvent-borne, solvent-free and aqueous coatings; provides substrate wetting, prevents Benard’s swirl formation, and improves leveling and gloss.

Highly effective silicone surface additive providing good substrate wetting and anti-cratering properties. Increases surface slip as well as scratch resistance and anti-adhesion; reduces airflow sensitivity in wood and furniture coatings; prevents the generation of Benard swirls, improves leveling and gloss, and has recoatability.
