Modified polyurethane thickeners ensure system stability

2021-08-21   Pageview:724

Modified polyurethane thickener is a kind of water-based non-ionic synergistic rheology modifier with low VOC, low odor, high, medium and low shear viscosity distribution, which has excellent performance on both the intrinsic water resistance, color spreading and other properties of the paint, as well as the open can effect and leveling properties outside the system. TP improves the rheological and leveling properties of waterborne coatings by increasing the high shear viscosity and low shear viscosity, and gives waterborne coatings the same rheological properties as solvent-borne alkyd coatings. Compared with conventional waterborne thickeners, the thickened systems are improved in terms of film formation, brushability and apparent properties.

TP is compatible with the base materials commonly used in emulsion paints, and coatings prepared with it have better water and scrub resistance than cellulose thickeners. In high-gloss emulsion systems, higher gloss can be achieved with TP than with polyacrylate or cellulose thickeners, and better gloss can be achieved with TP in combination with appropriate dispersants. It is ideal for making transparent products as it is as transparent as water after being placed for several hours after mixing with water!

Product characteristics

Low VOC, low odor: TP is a solvent-free polyurethane compound, which can be used directly in water-based coating systems after mixing in a certain ratio.

Improved open-can effect: The improvement of open-can effect is the characteristic of TP, without affecting the smoothness and thickness of the paint film, TP can give the paint system a very beautiful in-can flow: even in the acrylic system, which is prone to “pseudo-plasticity” effect, TP can also give the acrylic system good flow.

What are the properties of TP? Construction performance: TP has excellent performance in high shear viscosity (ICI viscosity), and the paint film after construction has excellent flow and leveling, and the paint film is rich and uniform.

It has excellent flow and leveling properties. No adverse effects on water resistance, gloss and color spread.

Anti-microbial decomposition: TP is very unresponsive to microorganisms such as mold and mildew, and can prevent most microorganisms from affecting the viscosity of the system, ensuring the stability of the system.

By providing high shear viscosity and low shear viscosity to improve the rheological and leveling properties of waterborne coatings, it gives waterborne coatings the same rheological properties as solvent-borne alkyd coatings, and its thickened systems are improved in terms of film formation, brushability and apparent properties compared to traditional waterborne thickeners.

Compared with cellulose thickeners, coatings prepared with TP have better water and scrub resistance, and higher gloss can be obtained in high-gloss emulsion systems than with polyacrylate or cellulose thickeners.

What is it? It is ideal for transparent products because it is as transparent as water after being mixed with water and left for several hours!
