Micronized Wax Helps Coatings Anti-Scratch

The main application of micronized wax is in powder coatings. Micronized wax additives in coatings help to improve wear resistance, anti-caking, as well as matting properties and improve flow and extrusion efficiency. While the coarser wax powder and other raw materials are mixed and extruded by extruder, the ultra-fine wax powder processed powder is directly dry mixed.

1, Texture, matting: when the coating is cooled, polyethylene wax particles precipitate from the coating liquid and migrate to the surface of the coating, producing the effect of pattern and matting; in powder coatings, different micronized waxes reduce the gloss differently, you can choose micronized waxes according to the gloss requirements.

2, Anti-scratch, anti-abrasion, anti-polishing, anti-scoring: micro-fine polyethylene wax exists in the form of dispersed particles with the coating surface, reducing the friction coefficient of the coating, so that when objects collide with the coating surface, the tendency to slide is greater than the tendency to scratch, reducing the tendency to be polished by friction, maintaining low gloss and low durability.

3, Smoothness and texture: polyethylene wax gives the coating film an excellent texture.

4, Water resistance: wax-containing coating has better hydrophobicity.

5, Influence on pigment dispersion: micronized wax enhances the wetting and dispersion of pigment agglomerates and makes the pigment coloring intensity increase.

6,Impact on extrusion yield: micronized wax reduces screw torque, adding 1% can increase extruder yield by 5~25%.

7, Wetting of material substrate: Wax particles precipitated from the coating helps to get rid of the gas adsorbed on the porous substrate.
