PTFE micronized powder is white, fine particles, prepared from low molecular weight PTFE, mainly used as an additive in plastics, inks, coatings, lubricants (grease) to improve the non-stick and wear resistance of the base material.
The molecular weight of micronized powder is generally 1/100 of that of high molecular weight PTFE. The lower molecular weight means that micronized powder is not suitable for the molding and sintering process of high molecular weight PTFE, because the products made from it do not have strength.
Low molecular weight PTFE can be mixed well with the base material, thus giving the base material certain characteristics of tetrafluoroethylene.
High molecular weight tetrafluoroethylene is fibrous and the particles are not easily dispersed, so it cannot be used as an additive to add micronized powder and the properties of the base material will change.
In thermoplastics, elastomers and thermosets, it can improve the wear resistance, non-stick and reduce the surface friction coefficient. In grease, lubricity and fast lubrication are enhanced, especially in high temperature and high load applications. In inks, especially in high quality inks, it helps to improve surface gloss, increase abrasion resistance and reduce clogging. In non-stick and wear-resistant coatings, it improves the non-stick properties of the coating, reduces the coefficient of friction, improves corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
PTFE micro powder is processed by special technology and modified by surface activation, while maintaining the original characteristics of PTFE, characterized by good dispersion. As an additive, it can be used in many fields, so the processing and the amount of additive is for reference only. But one thing is very important to ensure that the micronized powder is evenly dispersed in the base material; micronized PTFE powder has a small particle size, good flowability, which makes it easy to mix with other materials and has a good dispersion in the base material.
It can be added to coatings, inks, lubricants (grease), engineering plastics, etc. The amount is determined according to the actual test.
It can be added in PA,POM,PBT,PC/ABS/,HIPS and its alloy resins to improve the wear resistance of the material, reduce the friction coefficient of the material surface and improve the surface.
PTFE micro powder as an additive in plastics to improve the wear resistance of the base resin; reduce the surface friction coefficient to improve the sliding properties. PTFE micro powder can be directly mixed with resin and then granulated and extruded; PTFE micro powder can also be added to the molten resin (side feed to the molten section of the screw) generally recommended addition amount: 5~30%.
