How to increase the hardness and friction resistance of coatings? Hardness is one of the important properties of coating mechanical strength and an important indicator of the quality of coating products. The higher the hardness of the coating, the better its wear resistance, compressive strength and chemical resistance.
Increasing the hardness of coatings is generally considered from two aspects:
One is the film-forming substance (resin), using a resin with a high Tg value.
The second is to use hardened powder fillers. And usually the hardness of high-hardness powder fillers is much higher than that of resins. Increasing the filling ratio and density of high-hardness powders can better increase the hardness of coatings.
TIANSHI PTFE modified wax has good fineness and hardness, which solves the negative effect of PTFE sinking to the bottom due to excessive specific gravity, so that the wax powder effectively floats to the surface of the paint film, which can significantly improve the hardness of the paint film, thereby achieving the effect of improving RC resistance.
Wax can effectively improve the surface properties of the coating. It mainly includes improving the smoothness and scratch resistance of the coating, improving waterproofness, changing the rheological properties of the coating, and matting agent. The specific effects and mechanisms are as follows:
1. Anti-slip and anti-adhesion:
The wax additives in the coating system will migrate to the surface of the film evenly and gradually during the drying process of the film. A wax film is gradually formed on the surface of the film, which can make the coating surface anti-adhesion and produce synchronous effects such as anti-wear and anti-scratch.
How the wax migrates to the surface in the coating is related to the interaction between the wax and the coating, the drying form, the thickness of the film, the strength of the wax, the dispersion state and the density of the wax.
2. Friction resistance and scratch resistance:
One factor to improve friction resistance and scratch resistance is to reduce the friction coefficient of the coating surface, so that when the object contacts the coating surface, the sliding tendency is greater than the scratch tendency. The migration of wax micropowder to the coating surface can greatly reduce the dynamic friction coefficient of the coating surface, and only a small amount is needed to achieve scratch resistance.
3. Anti-sagging and anti-precipitation:
Wax dispersed in aromatic and aliphatic solvents can increase the anti-precipitation of coatings and inks. It also shows different degrees of thixotropy, anti-sagging and positioning of metallic pigments. RCA wear-resistant wax powder for coating enhancement is mainly added in the form of additives, and the general addition amount is about 0.1%-3%. The specific performance is mainly based on the type of resin used in the actual formula and the final performance to be achieved. The performance mainly refers to the appearance (the effect seen by the eyes), touch (the feeling when touched) and other physical performance requirements to select the type of wax powder and its addition amount.
