In which fields is EAA emulsion mainly used? EAA emulsion (ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer) has good adhesion to polar materials such as metal and glass, and also has good adhesion to PE, polyurethane, and nylon, and has certain heat sealing properties.
EAA is widely used in packaging, powder coatings, adhesives, hot melt adhesives, sealing materials, water-based solvents, etc.:
1. Packaging: Extrusion coating is used to prepare beverage cartons, toothpaste tubes, cable shielding layers, etc. At the same time, EAA has protective functions such as anti-tear, anti-puncture, and anti-corrosion.
2. Powder spraying: EAA powder can be sprayed on the surface of pipes, steel, non-woven fabrics and other materials as an anti-corrosion material.
3. Hot melt adhesive: (High-performance, high-MI EAA produces hot melt adhesive, which can be used for difficult-to-bond materials.
4. Water-based solvent: EAA with high AA content and high MI can be dissolved in hot alkaline solution under suitable reaction conditions and can be used for the preparation of water-based adhesives such as clothing materials.
5. Degradable and environmentally friendly materials: Degradable plastics can be made by mixing EAA and starch-based materials.
Water-based acrylic emulsions are manufactured by emulsion polymerization of vinyl monomers mainly composed of acrylate monomers. Emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners and other additives are added during the polymerization process to improve the product performance of acrylic emulsions. The viscosity of acrylic emulsions in water-based systems is generally low. In order to meet the needs of product construction, thickeners need to be added to increase the viscosity of acrylic emulsions and adjust their fluidity. While increasing the viscosity, thickening can save raw material costs.
