Should masterbatch use Fischer-Tropsch wax or PE wax? Both Fischer-Tropsch wax and PE wax can be used as masterbatch lubricating dispersants. Fischer-Tropsch wax is processed and extracted from coal, while PE wax is processed and extracted from petroleum. The difference in raw materials results in different index characteristics, so there are also differences in the use effects of PE wax and Fischer-Tropsch wax.

Fischer-Tropsch wax:
The molecular weight is relatively small, generally 600-800, and the viscosity is relatively low, generally 6-8. The molecular chain of Fischer-Tropsch wax is a straight chain with almost no branched chains. The oil content of Fischer-Tropsch wax is low and the hardness is high. Fischer-Tropsch wax is more inclined to lubrication. For products with higher lubrication requirements, such as hard PVC pipe profiles, stabilizers, and simple filling masterbatches, such as calcium carbonate filling, salt white filling, etc., which are used in injection molding, drawing and extrusion, Fischer-Tropsch wax is generally used.

PE wax:

The molecular weight is generally 1000-2000, and the viscosity is generally tens to hundreds of thousands or even tens of thousands. The molecular chain of PE wax has many branches. The lubrication and dispersibility of PE wax are more balanced. For those with higher requirements for lubrication and dispersion, such as PVC foamed sheets, PE wax is more suitable; in masterbatch, it can be used as a lubricating dispersant for masterbatch, especially high-concentration masterbatch, and some high-end fillers, such as PE wax for filling of blown film. According to the principle of masterbatch processing, although Fischer-Tropsch wax has a better wetting, penetration and coating effect, the low viscosity of Fischer-Tropsch wax reduces the shear force of the agglomerate, making the pigment dispersion effect poor. On the contrary, due to the high molecular weight and branched structure of polyethylene wax, it has a higher viscosity and is more suitable for masterbatch processing.
